Naw Bro You Just Gotta Not Suck! (Part 1 - The Not-so-sucky Beginning)
Today, I had just logged in once again to Gaia Online and it was a quite amusing to see my past as a clan member at the NBYJGNSC (Naw Bro You Just Gotta Not Suck Clan) if you're all wondering how did I get into a clan even if Clash of Clans did not exist yet during that time? Well, it all started in ZOMG! Which was a flash game made by Gaia a long time ago (any more hints and you will probably end up guessing how old I am)
As seen in this picture, I was hanging around the Papa Saw stage in the game since it gave out lots of gold (you know, for buying virtual avatar items) at a low skill cap and most Gaians would hang out to farm and make tons of virtual cash to buy virtual items. Since the game would encourage you to team up, I had no choice but to eat the frog and start crewing up with random Filipinos. At first, I was awkward and I admit that I did NOT want to socialize not even in the internet, but my random crewmates proved to me that I have nothing to fear. After a few more random crews, I would eventually meet up with certain members from a certain clan and that was NBYJGNSC.
I wanted to join the clan because some of previous crewmates-slash-game buddies were there and I admit that their forum signature (which was enough to hook my teenage self) looked cool as heck. So for the next few weeks, I would crew up with them or post random stuff on their clan thread. Since my sense of humor could be summed up as "crazy" and "weird", I clicked with them and soon enough, I was finally part of the clan.
And for the next few months, the Nibbies and I would spend nights raiding several in-game dungeons while chatting via Skype and on the afternoons-I would host the Nibby Show which was quite unhinged and chaotic to say so the least. Eventually, the first few months of my freshman year in college played out like those anime where the protagonist is a regular teenager who happens to be a bada*** in the virtual world. Things were looking up until that incident happened, and as I have mentioned in the linked post-it was also the Nibbies who helped me out in this time.
It was there that I learned that online friends are legit, it doesn't matter that we have not met physically-but I had felt their care even if they were miles* away from me. With this knowledge, I continued to live even if my college life was depressing. Soon, my college "friends" and I made up for the holidays and my anime protag days continued on as if nothing happened. Soon, my clannies and I would also start doing other things like trading Pokemon (this was during Gen IV-V) and song recommendations. But of course, my time with the clan has lessened considerably since I had to deal with night classes, majors and of course-my friends' debuts.
In 2012, the devs opened up Deadman's Shadow which meant new content for my clannies to play-unfortunately, my laptop just said no as the game kept lagging. With this, I had no choice but to watch my clannies play and unfortunately, a lot of in-clan feuds happened which resulted in the clan to be inactive as most people just left the clan or quit Gaia for good. So with that, I ended up doing other things which I'll feature in my next blog entry and focused on my studies as internship and graduation were just around the corner.
And that concludes part 1 of my Nibby-tastic adventure. To cap it all off, I will share a piece of art that I have made for the clan and features all of us in MS-paint glory.
A+ for effort, bravo past me..bravo.
**Most of the clannies are based in the US
