Guardian Tales: Burnout

Last November 8, I decided to take a break from my main game Guardian Tales due to saltiness (only getting dupes on recent white box pulls, arena stress and comparing my amount of uniques obtained to others) initially, I was supposed to take a break after the guild raid was finished, but due to a failed attack in the guild raid, I finally decided to let my guildmate pilot my account for one week while I remained in the group chat to help everyone out, even if I wasn't playing GT.

So despite all the things that had happened both before and on the day of the W10 and Future Princess update, I admit that leading Expo and playing GT had taught me very important lessons about life and have gathered it all on a list for you. Right now, I admit that Expo is not really as bustling as it used to since everyone's busy with real life, Wild Rift, Genshin Impact or probably had quit GT. Either way, to the Expo/Expolarium members reading this, thanks for making my 2020 brighter. Don't worry, this blog post is just to thank you and GT hahahahaha.

  Lessons:
  • If you feel burnt out and it's spilling over real life (family, work, school, faith, friends, sleeping and eating habits) then take a break (or even leave guild) even if it's just a game. A game should be just a game, not your entire life/duty/mission.
  • There are toxic people in every gaming community, you have the choice to feed into their toxicity or stay away from them. But if you find the non-toxic ones, keep them.
  • You can't control certain things in GT (toxic players, guildmates leaving and moving to other guilds, RNG, farming AI etc.) the only thing you can control is your reaction and gameplay.
  • Trying to silence valid criticism with toxic positivity will just make things worse for everyone. Salty players have as much of a right to tell their feedback as satisfied players.
  • Don't put your expectations on something that is variable (people, RNG, the game's lifespan, etc.) since these things will change, and you will just end up disappointed if you place your hopes on them.
  • Guardian Tales should NOT be your main game, play other NON-GACHA games and have hobbies that don't involve gaming for peace of mind. Gacha after all does predate the vulnerable minds, and having hobbies can shield you from the effects of gacha.
  • There's a time and place for everything, jokes included.
