Wisdom from the Clan Castle
In the last two months prior to the ECQ (Enhanced Community Quarantine), I decided to play Clash of Clans out of curiosity since my office friends and colleagues were talking about it all the time in the pantry. At first, I was like "why is everyone obsessed with a game that was popular nearly six years ago?" but then, I decided to install the game just for the heck of it. Soon, I was hooked and had to tell my close friend-slash-clan leader to add me to the office's clan. Right now, I had just reached Town Hall 7 and needless to say, I do enjoy the game a lot. Now, there is one huge lesson that I have learned in the game and would like to share with you right now.
And that is...
Don't Rush Things! In COC, I admit that it is tempting to upgrade to the next town hall level so I could catch up with my higher-leveled clanmates, but most of them advised me to just max out my existing resources before moving up to the next town hall, and needless to say-it was worth it since I was doing well both in offense and defense. Just like in real life, we are tempted to rush into things as well, and it doesn't help that society will call us failures if we we fail to keep up with the world's standards.
But, if we answer the call to rush, it will bite us in the butt later on. In COC, it will make you an easy target as your defenses are weak, and you're not as effective in raids and clan wars either. And in real life, we will just be frustrated and burnt out in the end. Competition is not wrong, even the Apostle Paul mentioned that we have to press on to the end of the race to reach the goal, which is Jesus (Philippians 3:14).
But, rushing ourselves just to fit in with the world's standards will just lead to pain. In the end, it's better to just enjoy what God has given you, to maximize what you have right now, so that when you reach the next town hall level or the next stage in your life, you'll be able to endure what comes in your way, and just like what the old story has taught us-it was the slow turtle who had won against the swift rabbit.
Verses to ponder on:
Ecclesiastes 3:1 (GNT) - He has set the right time for everything. He has given us a desire to know the future, but never gives us the satisfaction of fully understanding what he does.
Philippians 3:14 (GNT) - So I run straight toward the goal in order to win the prize, which is God's call through Christ Jesus to the life above.
