Kenosis
Sometimes, we have to be emptied in order to be filled with something better. In all honesty, I cringed when I heard this yesterday when I attended our weekly Feast session since it reminded me of those times where God had emptied me. First was that time where I ended up pouring all my time, attention and effort to please a bunch of people who weren't able to reciprocate what I have given them, since their love tanks were limited-just like mine and in the end, I closed myself off, until God came in.
The second instance where I emptied myself, only to end up nearly burning out was during last year's Christmas party where I was burdened with all sorts of tasks and ended up a sobbing mess as soon as I arrived at home. It also didn't help that Lolo died a month later, and I had to deal with all sorts of regrets. I did continue to cling to the Lord, but I also admit that I felt like an empty shell, just waiting to be filled with something; little did I know that God was actually filling me up with strength, resiliency and wisdom. I failed to notice it, since I was also preoccupied-but yesterday's talk reminded me that my wait was not in vain, I did learn a lot-and I trusted in God more.
So don't fear when God empties you, usually He does it so He can fill it up with something better. After all, He is our heavenly father and He is enough to fill us for a lifetime.
