Change is Coming???
Well, at least I finally got this off the drafts list hahahaha
Nearly a month ago, I had decided to put aside my MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) marathon to watch the live stream of Feast Makati Salcedo. To be honest, the Lord has called me once again to reconnect with Him by listening to His word instead of watching the Hulk (hahaha). And yes, the topic struck my heart once again as it was about breaking bad habits and the need to change for the better.
First, I was amused with Bro. Jan's anecdote that we cannot force change to happen by his two anecdotes. First was the struggle to get his son into taking a bath, until a crush changed all of that. And the second is dealing with concerned parents telling a young Bro. Jan to talk their kids into stopping their terrible habits, but that also didn't work-considering that if the parents were not able to do it, then it probably won't work for Bro. Jan either.
So the lesson here is that we shouldn't force people to change, I know it is grating to deal with the annoying traits of our family members, relatives, friends, significant others and more, but doing so might just end up causing pain for both sides. No, I'm not asking you to merely tolerate those bad behaviors-but instead: correct them in private and encourage them when they make huge steps towards positive change.
But to be honest, the only one who can change you for the better is God Himself. When it comes to other people changing you, it is a double-edged sword. Sometimes, we change for good since God has probably used these people to help us out in the journey of sanctification and sometimes, we change for the worse or stay stagnant, since God wasn't there-but in its place was the idol of people-pleasing.
And always remember to do things in love, whenever we correct someone-let us not shame them but rather, help them out in their journey with the Lord. After all, love changes us-and God is the author and perfecter of it.

Colossians 3:14, ESV:
"And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony."
