Your School Looks Familiar!

Yesterday was a pretty wild and sweaty ride, since I had to attend our office sportfest followed by a visit to my Alma Mater and going home early to catch Your Face Sounds Familiar. Here's a rundown of how my Saturday turned into a Sweat-a-lot day.

Sportsfest:

May has finally arrived, and that only means two things: our annual sportsfest and the office anniversary. Before we can even get to point B which is the grand anniversary, we had to sweat ourselves out at the annual sportsfest which was held at the SASES covered court at San Andres Manila. Yes, I'll admit that our journey to the area was made difficult due to the fact that it was sweltering hot outside and it was nearing 12 'o clock.

By the time we arrived, a bunch of random men were just wrapping up their basketball game; leaving us to find seats and talk about random musings just before the key figures and Lolo would arrive. By 1 pm, we were able to march on for the parade of teams with our bright banner for the Yellow team. After that was the muse Q&A and soon, the games began.

I'll be quite honest that the games were pretty action-packed (especially the women's volleyball competition) sadly, all things had to end when my ate and I left the covered court to CSB.

School:

A lot of things changed at Taft Ave. ever since I left two years ago. The Papa John's pizza restaurant inside University Mall was long gone, 7-11 and Karate Kid had taken on its stead. Bonchon and KFC are still around and that's a good thing since I miss eating at Bonchon after classes. Other long-runners are the Filbar's branch and the Piso Print station (because students print a lot of papers)

Other than UM, I also visited Ongkeco's just above Starbucks and Burger King. Sadly, they no longer sell Yugioh cards-on the other hand, they still have Vanguard, Buddyfight, Weiss Schwarz and Magic cards on sale. I did wind up buying FC2014 just for old time's sake before going down to visit my beloved Alma Mater.

Arriving at CSB, I asked the guards if I could visit the school since I was an alumna. They obliged and even gave me a sheet of paper so I could go in and explore. The school hasn't really changed that much in terms of structure and appearance, it looks like the same place that I have been studying in since five years ago. Heck, even Plaza V still looks and feels the same! (well its quieter since there were no students)

As I went down the stairs, Greenway plaza was still around with a smattering amount of students scattered around the area. Passing by, I noticed a huge board standing around on the middle of the walkway. I smiled as I recognized that it was the list of courses for pre-enrollment. Soon, I went inside the caf and noticed a few changes; students can now eat Greenwich pizza and burgers without getting out of the school.

Its quite funny since we never even had those stalls, and the only way to eat pizza and burgers was to get out of the school and buy outside. That was a bit of a hassle for me since I had to fish out my ID from my bag and sometimes, the card reader can't even read my ID!

Pushing the topic of eating aside, I wistfully smiled as I saw the LRC-X or the LRC extension where my friends and I usually hang out before or after classes. If other barkadas claimed that Plaza V, LRC main or UM was their hangout, then we might have claimed LRC-X for ourselves. I also encountered the Career and Placement Office which was still on the same spot.

At the Benilde hall, I also saw a new change in bulletin boards. The corkboards were replaced with shiny white fiberglass which accommodated posters, advertisements and all sorts of information for the students passing by.

As I went out of the school, I realized that I do miss CSB, those lazy days when my friends and I were lounging around the LRC X before classes, or those times when I went to Bonchon after class to eat before getting back. I also realized that work is different, but it is equally enjoyable as school.

In the end, I would still love to visit CSB but with my friends and not on a term break since the school is quiet and a bit scary hahahaha.

Animo Benilde!
